About Navarre Oil Finished Hardwoods - NJ, New Jersey, NYC

Inspired by the 19th century Arts & Crafts movement, Navarre marries the craftsmanship of Olde World artisans and 21st century manufacturing technologies to create heirloom quality oak hardwood flooring. The distinctive character of each Navarre plank is achieved using a variety of antiquing and aging techniques and finished with natural oils to preserve the original beauty of the wood.

Navarre's natural oil finish provides a warmth and refinement to the floor that cannot be achieved with modern day acrylic or polyurethane finishes. The rich patina of each Navarre floor is only enhanced with age and use - the more it is walked on, the more beautiful it gets. The natural oils in Navarre floors penetrate the grain and become part of the floor, while acrylic and polyurethane surface coatings detract from the natural beauty of hardwood and degrade with age and use.

Navarre floors feature a distinctive and sophisticated range of distressed, smoked, and antiqued floors finished with either natural or pigmented oils. Each Navarre floor is meticulously crafted to ensure lasting beauty for generations to come. A solid oak hardwood top layer rests on a multi-layered, dimensionally stable core giving each Navarre floor the strength to withstand decades of use.

Industry hit with another round of increases - NJ, NYC

Armstrong announced March 26 that it will initiate a 10 percent price increase in the U.S. and Canada on all solid, engineered and wood trim products effective with shipments on May 13, 2013.

The company had previously announced a 10 percent price increase in the U.S. and Canada on its solid hardwood products in January of this year and a six percent increase in the U.S. and Canada on its solid and engineered products in October and December of 2012 respectively.

“There has been an unprecedented 40 percent increase in lumber since the end of 2012, which we forecast will stay at historic highs into 2014. This raw material increase is much higher than anyone has anticipatesd,” said Kevin Biedermann, senior vice president, Armstrong Residential Floor Products. “We are doing everything we can to compensate, but unfortunately we must initiate an increase.”

Shortly after Armstrong announced its increases, Mannington, Mohawk, Mullican, Unilin and Shaw followed with their own increases.
“As the housing market continues to recover, we are experiencing unprecedented increases in raw material pricing as well as log shortages. These two factors have driven our costs up to a point where we must pass along a price increase. We continue to be optimistic about the economic recovery and the future of our industry,” noted Kim Holm, president, residential business, Mannington Mills.

Mannington announced a 10 percent price increase on its engineered hardwood and trim products on March 27 to be effective with shipments beginning May 13, 2013. Back in November 2012, the company had announced a six percent price increase on its engineered products.
Mohawk, Mullican and Unilin all announced price increases for their hardwood products on April 1.

Mohawk’s increase of up to 10 percent on both its solid and engineered hardwood products and accessories will take effect on orders and shipments made on or after May 31, 2013. Mohawk had announced a six percent price increase on its engineered products in November of 2012.

Mohawk remains committed to providing innovative, market driven products in conjunction with exceptional service,” said Jamie Byrne, senior vice president of hard surfaces. “We have introduced many new products this year and continue to make investments in the business to deliver better solutions for our valued retail partners. Unfortunately, the sustained rise in raw material costs in hardwood continue to outpace our productivity initiatives.”

Mullican Flooring announced a price increase of eight percent on 2 ¼ -inch solids and 12 percent on 3-inch solid hardwood flooring.
Unilin announced an increase of up to 10 percent on its Columbia and Century brand solid and engineered hardwood products and accessories. These price increases will take effect on June 1. Unilin had already announced a 10 percent increase on its solid hardwood products in its Columbia and Century lines earlier this year in January.

Shaw announced April 2 that it will post “a significant price increase on all hardwood flooring styles and all hardwood trim and moldings to take effect with orders and shipments beginning May 13.

Armstrong/Bruce announces price increase on hardwood flooring and trim

Lancaster, Pa.— Armstrong announced today that it will initiate a 10 percent price increase in the United States and Canada on all solid, engineered and wood trim products effective with shipments on May 13, 2013.
